Students gain an understanding of the creative use of language, learn to use context to find the meaning of unknown words, learn to understand puns and word play, and recognize similarities of sounds in words and rhythmic patterns, alliterations and onomatopoeia. They identify various building blocks of poetry and rhyme (e.g. fable, “image”, metaphor) as well as rhyme schemes as they interactively relate to text, poems and lyrics, joining characters on stage in sing-a-longs, answering riddles, and helping to complete magical rhymes. Students explore basic plots of not one or two, but a myriad classic fairy tales, legends and fables from around the world and learn how to craft their own stories, based on personal an shared experiences.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM |
“Be prepared to meet Lester the Jester, Patty Patches, Stuffy Steve and Fifika, the Fortune Teller. Be prepared to experience riddles, songs, jokes, and a bit of dialogue all designed to test the little ones’ experience in the world of fairy tales. While they tell some of the tales in song and rhyme, they do ask the ultimate question: How do we continue to create stories of our own? Joshua, my eight-year-old Ace critic, gave it an ‘A”. I’m inclined to agree with the kid.” Joseph Feinstein, Showmag.com |
