A delightful musical comedy that will touch the hearts of youngsters and teachers alike, “Mary-Mary, Quite Contrary” is the story of a young girl, much like any young girl in the audience, who is challenged to use her imagination and to explore the fantasies around her. Mary-Mary's Grandmother has moved away, and in the course of this charming contemporary tale, Mary-Mary learns to value new points of view, to cherish her family, and to accept the changes that inevitably accompany us on that most demanding of journeys-the journey towards growing up. Music and mischief abound in this heartwarming fairytale about a little girl who cannot decide if she is too old to believe in fairytales, as a host of colorful storybook characters land in Suburbia, U.S.A. and confront the miracles and mysteries of modern living, giving us a whole new perspective on the way we live. Written and directed by the creative team of Chris DeCarlo and Evelyn Rudie, this contemporary fantasy focuses on Mary-Mary, a little girl who would like to believe she is Super Girl, but discovers she is much more akin to Pippi Longstocking. Enhanced with colorful costumes by award-winning designer Ashley Hayes and lilting tunes by E. Rudie and Matt Wrather, |

| EDUCATORS SAY | |
|
"We feel that the Santa Monica
Playhouse performs a valuable community service. A large percentage of children at McKinley School are culturally deprived and seldom have the opportunity to experience real theatrical presentations. I know that other schools throughout our community would enjoy the repertoire which this Santa Monica Theatre has to offer." Harvey Wells, Principal McKinley School |
