The Other Space, The Artists’ Entrance, The White Box Theatre, and the Main Stage are available for readings, lectures, workshops, seminars, solo shows, small band and concert performances, senior projects, dance presentations, and other similar events, on the basis of space availability. 

Performances

Single night performances are available in The Other Space and the Main Stage when space is available. 

Limited run productions (two to twelve weeks) are available mainly in The Other Space.

The Main Stage is occasionally also available for limited run productions.

 Santa Monica Playhouse offers the finest technical and production assistance provided by critically acclaimed resident designers, crafts persons and production experts. These artists work regularly at the Playhouse on in-house presentations as well as in conjunction with rentals, touring shows, dance companies, concerts and staged readings, and are intimately acquainted with the Playhouse’s two performance auditoriums: The Main Stage and The Other Space. In addition to the production design team, skilled graphic artists and public relations consultants can help personalize a campaign that includes printed materials, marketing and press elements. These professionals are on-site several days a week, making adjustments, changes and additions possible during the entire run of your show.

 LIGHTING DESIGN, SET DESIGN and CONSTRUCTION

JAMES COOPER and ASHLEY HAYES, award-winning lighting, costume and set designers, have more than 300 productions to their credit, including such critically acclaimed shows as The Clown Prince, Ionesco’s The Bald Soprano, Clemensy for Mark Twain, Dear Gabby at the Henry Street Settlement Theatre in New York, Brenda Krantz’s Lovely starring Louise Sorrel, Annie Reiner’s Mirage a Trois, , Cinderella for the 5000 seat Hitomi  Hall in Tokyo, the record-breaking musical Author! Author!—an evening with Sholom Aleichem, nine one-acts for the Nexus Theatre Company as well as  fifteen international tours of Alice and the Wonderful Tea Party. They also design regularly for the Dream Factory in the U.K.

SOUND DESIGN

THE ATTIC ROOM is a full-service on-site recording facility specializing in sound design for the intimate stage., with a library of more than 3000 sounds effects. Credits include Richard Krevolin’s Yahrzeit, Brine County Wedding, Othello, Jerry Mayer’s Falling In Love Again and Almost Perfect, Diane Samuels’ Kindertransport, the American premiere of SCRAPS, the Open Door TheaterWorks production of Downstream and most recently the West Coast premiere of Funny, You Don’t Look Like a Grandmother.

has been creating public relations strategies for theatre since 1990. Projects include Scott DuVale’s
Voices in the Dark, the English Shakespeare Company’s Los Angeles premiere of God say Amen…Themes from the Wars of the Roses, Agnes Bernelle’s Empress Eugènie and Black Champagne, and countless ART productions. Services include consultation on all aspects of public relations and marketing campaigns.
