A SAVE THE MAIN STAGE World Premiere Benefit...

END OF TIMES THERAPY

Santa Monica Playhouse is proud to present the world premiere of Solange Castro’s powerful and poignant play,
End of Times Therapy, to support the Save the Main Stage Campaign.
The year is 2040. Food is scarce, war is imminent, and the patriarchy dominates local tribes. A lone therapist sets up a practice in La Crescenta where she tries to help a young woman find a better life. But power and politics continue to dominate American life even in the post-apocalypse. End of Times Therapy explores the themes of class wars, gender roles, romantic love and the therapeutic process in end of times Los Angeles and holds up a mirror to the times in which we now live.
Never once did my mind drift away, thinking about other things but rather stayed completely engaged by the characters and story. The tempo moving from comedic lines to distress or fear was just right to keep the momentum up and the audience was kept involved with the story.  The cast couldn’t have been more perfect for their parts.  I loved the opening with just the announcements bringing the audience up to speed with where the story would take off.  It reminded me of Orson Welles, War of the Worlds broadcast.  I would be remiss not to mention the clever lines sprinkled throughout the play. - Laura W.
Directed by Robert Yasumura, End of Times Therapy features stage and screen celebrities Abigail Marlowe (The Sopranos, the Equalizer 2, Captain America, And Just Like That, CSI: Vegas, Arcane), Sarah Cortez (9-1-1, Angie Tribeca, Life by Ella, Long Shadows), Anthony Riggins Jr. (Catfish Christmas – Apple TV), Leonard Wu (The Blacklist, Bosch, Grey’s Anatomy, American Born Chinese), Anne Gregory (American Crime Story: Impeachment, Parks and Recreation, HBO’s Funny or Die Presets, Punk’d), with Jeremy Guskin and Paul Jackson rounding out the company.
