An intensive training program in all aspects of theatre management and production, from first audition to final performance before the public and the reviewer. Focus includes acting, voice and movement, playwriting, costuming, make-up, set design and construction, lighting and sound, props, publicity and marketing, house and stage management, and producing. Each Summer Stock production is unique as the group creates an astonishing full-length theatre piece, learning to work as an ensemble in a program of intensive theatre immersion.
Alumni of the program include Rina Mimoun (producer/writer Dawson’s Creek, Gilmore Girls, Pushing Daisies, Mistresses), Cami Anderson (Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World), film-maker Shana Feste (Endless Love, Country Strong), Mickey Madden (Maroon 5), poet Elana Bell, novelist Rebecca Donner, Emmy-award winner Aisha Wagle, singer-songwriter Inara George, casting director Liz Dean (Nip ‘n’ Tuck, Major Crimes) and Gadi Dechter (Former White House Economic Policy Advisor.)

Acceptance is by interview and audition only.
Preference is given to students who have taken at least one Santa Monica Playhouse production workshop; however, new students may be accepted with director and staff approval. [Note: This workshop does not take place every year, but is only offered when a requisite number of serious students are accepted.]
